North Harford Middle School alerted parents on Friday, Nov. 22, that students were being temporarily evacuated as a precaution after the incident. Seventh graders were relocated to the elementary school, while sixth and eighth graders were taken to the high school.

The evacuation was managed quickly and safely, with Harford County Public Schools praising staff, emergency responders, and students for their cooperation.

“The spill has been evaluated, and the school has been cleared for students and staff to return,” administrators said in an update to parents. “At this time, students and staff have returned to the building for the remainder of the instructional day.”

Officials commended students for their behavior during the evacuation, noting they “followed procedures and are to be applauded.”

Emergency crews ensured the safety of the site before students and staff returned to resume their day.
